SANTIAGO to CASTRO

Image
We boarded the Quest and quickly settled into life onboard. We were met at  the gangway by the Cruise Director - who was the same one we had on our previous cruise several years ago on Legend - Jan (a small world). While waiting for our suite to be ready we were shown the pool deck and given our cocktails (and something to eat). A great start. The suite is very nice, great bed, a bar (especially now that I have a bottle of single malt in it) and lovely staff. But that's Seabourn. That evening we were invited to dinner along with 5 others with one of the guest entertainers - Steve Stevens (comedian). Very funny night. Our first day at sea. Calm balmy day and we were out to meet our fellow travelers. For Sally, Gary, Trixie and Barry - we met Sally and Gary's clones from the Gold Coast.  They love a drink or 2 - so here we go again. Our first port of call was Puerto Monte in Chile. There wasn't much to do there so 4 of us decided to stretch our legs and walk around ...

We are off!

Landed in the morning and was greeted by a very hot and dry climate. Getting through immigration was a breeze but getting the transportation to the Hotel was not. Won't dwell on this except to say travelers be wary of what taxi to get.Santiago is interesting. Our Hotel/Apartment is right in the middle of central downtown, close to some very good restaurants and sights. Looking out of our window we see: We went vent...
