Julie and Graham's Next Big Adventure

Well the time has finally arrived.

On Tuesday 14 March we once more jump on the plane (Qantas QF27) on our way to Rio De Janeiro. 😁 We will be staying there for a few days before joining Seabourn Venture for a 21 day cruise up the east coast of South America and then sail down the Amazon past Manaus and into the Peruvian part of the river.

But that is just the start! 

After the cruise we then go on to the Iguazu Falls followed by a few days in Buenos Aires and then on to Miami via Santiago. From Miami we will join the Ponant's Le Boreal for a 20 day cruise across the Atlantic to Honfleur in Normandie France. This cruise will be a big test on our strength of will to not indulge in all the French food and drinks as there are no ports of call between Miami and Honfleur. 😨

We will then bus/train around France (Le Havre to Lyon via Paris) sampling more French cuisine and wine before heading off to Florence and getting into the fare.

From Florence we fly back to Paris before boarding Emirates flight home, landing on 24 May.

  ANOTHER DAY - ANOTHER ADVENTURE 7 July - 21 August The day has come for Julie and I to come out of hibernation and head out into the world once again. This time we are headed to the Mediterranean for a cruise on the Seabourn Encore from Athens to Venice via the Greek Islands, Turkey, Croatia and Italy. This part of the trip is for 23 days followed by a river cruise, an 8 day cruise from Budapest to Rennesburg on the Scenic Opal 😊. Stage 2 - Istanbul to Athens  Day 10 Following the sea day we arrived in Istanbul.  The sun continues to shine down on us and we disembarked in the beautiful Turkish city of Istanbul. Istanbul (aka Constantinople in Roman times) straddles 2 continents and is a city where the East meets the West. Rich in history and culture, it was once the heart of the Byzantine and Ottoman empires. Rich in places to see, Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque to name a couple.  The Grand Bazaar was closed on Sunday.  As we have visited the city in previous trips we elected to take a short walk into the city's main shopping area and not brave the heat and walk to the numerous sights. And yes, that included visiting jewellery shops where we spent considerable time and, sadly, money. Julie's birthday is nearing so she decided to lash out and spoil herself 😭.  The Final Stage - Budapest to Munich !0 Aug - Pre-Boarding We waved farewell to Seabourn Encore and transferred to Venice International Airport. The ship docked in Fusina which is about 30 mins from Venice so no time to take in the views of the City. The flight to Budapest was via Vienna with Austrian Airways. 2 x 1hr flights landing in Budapest early afternoon. We decided to catch the bus into the city. What a breeze. Straight out of the terminal. The bus was just pulling in. Jumped on  (express to the city - 3 stops) and took us about 40 mins. Because we are ancient (over 65) the trip was free. The last stop was ours and it was about a 2 min walk to our hotel which was lucky as the temp was about 36 Deg. The h otel was very comfortable and in the centre of the City close to the river.
